ADL Data Systems ePrescribing DEA-EPCS Certificate CenterThrough ADL Data Systems Physician Order Entry, now you can securely transmit ePrescriptions to pharmacies for DEA class I, II, III, IV, and V Drugs. Exchanging prescriptions electronically between physicians, nursing homes, and pharmacies saves time and improves the accuracy of the prescribing process.
The new DEA-EPCS feature eliminates printing controlled substance prescriptions, simplifying the ordering process for physicians, nurses, and pharmacists. ePrescribing DEA drugs prevents possible misuse of printed DEA Class prescriptions.
The relevant Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) order enforces a 2-factor authentication when prescribing to ensure that no one but an authenticated person is entering/confirming the Order. The 2-factor authentication requires each Prescriber to have a digital certificate approved by a DEA for EPCS. These certificates can only be issued by a DEA Certified Digital Certification Authority like IdenTrust.
ADL has partnered with IdenTrust to provide identity proofing and issuance of digital certificates used to digitally sign and electronically send DEA prescriptions. You will need to provide the required identity information to IdenTrust for the identity proofing. After your identity has been proofed, you will be issued an IdenTrust digital certificate that meets the DEA requirements for EPCS that will be valid for two years.
To complete your identity proofing you will need to provide your name, address, phone number, date of birth, Social Security number, a credit card number, and your driver's license. This process will take approximately one week. Once you have received your digital certificate and installed it, register it on the ADL Data DEA-EPCS sign up screen to begin electronically sending controlled substances prescriptions.
