MIE / WebChart ePrescribing of Controlled Substance Certificate Center

Physicians who wish to electronically prescribe controlled medications must employ two-factor authentication as required by the DEA. Medical Informatics Engineering (MIE) is working with IdenTrust to provide the required level of identity proofing. IdenTrust will issue digital certificate tokens that can be used to digitally sign and electronically transmit prescriptions for controlled substances (EPCS). By providing required information to IdenTrust, physicians can complete identity proofing and establish two-factor authentication for twoyears. Physicians will receive a USB device that will generate a digital signature.

To obtain a USB Token, physicians must register with IdenTrust, and prove their identity.
ONLY THE SUBSCRIBER OF THE CERTIFICATE SHOULD HAVE EXCLUSIVE USE OF THEIR TOKEN. THE DIGITAL CERTIFICATE IS YOUR FORM OF IDENTIFICATION, SIMILAR TO YOUR PASSPORT OR DRIVER'S LICENSE.

IdenTrust Global Common Certificates (IGC)

IdenTrust Global Common (IGC) digital certificates are cross-certified with the U.S. Federal Bridge Certification Authority, enabling trust, and interoperability with a wide range of systems and applications. Each individual IGC Certificate includes both a certificate for authentication/digital signing and a certificate for encryption.

For EPCS Two Factor Authentication Certificates and Tokens, you can start the process by clicking on the Buy button below. During the registration process, you will be presented with hardware storage options for your certificate. Please select USB Token.

Any applicable discounts will be applied at the end of the registration process.

Please note for EPCS signatures, utilization of two-factor authentication (2FA) is required by the DEA.
You will have the option to select either a FIPS 140-2 Security Level 1 USB Token or a Smart Card that meets DEA's cryptographic requirements, for storage of your Certificate to meet the 2FA requirement. Purchase of hardware includes a one-time license for middleware and drivers necessary for the hardware to function.

Hardware pricing, depending on need:
