During the registration process, you will be presented with hardware storage options for your certificate. Users who use or anticipate using smart phones, tablets, computers using Apple's OS operating system, or Chrome internet browsers should select a Hybrid PKI/OTP token ($128.00). If you will exclusively use a Windows PC for EPCS you may select the USB Token ($48.00).
Please note for EPCS signatures, utilization of two-factor authentication (2FA) is required by the DEA.
You will have the option to select either a FIPS 140-2 Security Level 1 USB Token or a Smart Card that meets DEA’s cryptographic requirements, for storage of your Certificate to meet the 2FA requirement. Purchase of hardware includes a one-time license for middleware and drivers necessary for the hardware to function.
*Hardware certificates must be retrieved using Internet Explorer. Once retrieved, you may use your hardware certificate with any application that supports standard x.509 certificates.
