NextGen Healthcare has established a relationship with IdenTrust; a Certification Authority that provides the remote identity-proofing and two-factor authentication required by prescribers to electronically transmit prescriptions for controlled medications.

IdenTrust will perform remote identity proofing that will be valid for two years based on the information you provide during the application process.  To complete your identity proofing you will need to provide your name, address, phone number, date of birth, Social Security number, a credit card number, and your driver's license.  This process will take approximately one week.  On certificate approval, you will receive and activation letter with instructions.

IdenTrust provides two different options for NextGen users:

  • Software Certificate only. IdenTrust Global Common Basic Software Unaffiliated 2-Year Certificates are used where identity proofing only is needed, in conjunction with legacy or non-IdenTrust authenticators.
  • IdenTrust Global Common Basic Hardware Unaffiliated 2-Year Certificate with Hybrid PKI/OTP USB Token. This option includes identity proofing and a token that both stores a certificate and is capable of generating One Time Passwords (OTP). The NextGen application supports the IdenTrust OTP authentication method with EHR UD3 MR1 or EHR 5.9.
Please select the option below appropriate for your EPCS implementation. If selecting the hardware option, you may be prompted to select a hardware storage type. Please be sure to select the Hybrid PKI/OTP USB Token. The token will be directly mailed to you with the activation letter by IdenTrust. Your token will be activated when you retrieve your certificate to the token.

Please note: ONLY THE SUBSCRIBER OF THE CERTIFICATE SHOULD HAVE EXCLUSIVE USE OF THEIR TOKEN - THE DIGITAL CERTIFICATE IS YOUR FORM OF IDENTIFICATION, SIMILAR TO YOUR PASSPORT OR DRIVER'S LICENSE. Under the IGC Certificate Policy, it is our responsibility as an Authorized Certification Authority to revoke the certificate in a case of loss or disclosure of the private key (Password) to anyone other than the subscriber.

IdenTrust Global Common Certificates (IGC)

IdenTrust Global Common (IGC) digital certificates are cross-certified with the U.S. Federal Bridge Certification Authority, enabling trust, and interoperability with a wide range of systems and applications. Each individual IGC Certificate includes both a certificate for authentication/digital signing and a certificate for encryption.
